The tips provided in this article will be helpful in defending in several situations. First let us deal with defending of a state or city or province and the surrounding area. If the area of your city is very small then interconnecting them is possible using a spider web format. This is done to reinforce each of them.

This will also be covering the city. In other case if the areas of your city is very large then cover the place where the opponent can come in from. Examples of such places are the road or through the road via a jungle or a mountain. Another option when dealing with the bigger cities is to cover the important buildings.

The whole city also can be covered. Forts located in your place can have a prominent effect in defending the opponents.
Now let us discuss ways to effectively defend a force superior to yours: You will have to deal with a total of 2 situations in such cases. The first situation is when the troops you have are less compared to the opponents but they will be more experienced or better.

The second situation is when the troops you posses are not only less but also consists of inferior soldiers. It is clear that the first situation is always better. The player is not advised to be assured by the natural and man- made materials like hills and buildings for defending. The reason for this is that they vary in each fight. So it is better to place your troops at a farther corner present on the game map.

If there is a hill set at the corner then it is better to arrange more soldiers behind the arc. This will help to double up the number when needed.

Now let us consider defending against an opponent or invading their place. With the following example this can be explained better. Consider a situation when the opponent of yours has the same number of troops which is equal to the one you possess in quality and experience.

And the player wants to take over their cities. You will have to attack in this case. When doing this ensure that you are not giving them any chance to take back your already earned assets.

The best way to attack is after properly planning the route. Make it straight and begin leap frogging. Use both troops to take the city out (first city) and combine the troops later to get any one among the 2 armies back to full number of troop members. Now advance towards the next target you have already planned. For combining them, drag identical units on each other. Now they will combine the numbers to the maximum in that particular unit. The rest of them will stay to move in the first unit.
