Researching about the history of Blackjack, one might feel confused since different sources give varying information on this particular game has started.
Some sources say that the game actually started during 700 BC in as early as the Roman occupancy in the continent of Europe. However, this is still highly questioned as experts claimed that the sources are pertaining to a different game since playing cards were not invented until 1440. Blocks of woods are said to be what served as the playing cards during the 700BC, each of the block has a numerical value just like how one play Blackjack.
Some sources claim that Blackjack was first played among casinos in France and was called “vingt-et-un” which literally means “20 and 1.” The game was eventually called as Blackjack since a player whenever a player was able to hold Ace of Spades and Jack of Spades as the 1st cards, the player was given an extra amount. Since the Spades card that is black and Jack are vital cards in the game, it was eventually named as Blackjack.
In France, the game was played in separate rounds with the players struggling to gain a sum score of 21. In the event that the dealer got 21 however, the dealer should be paid at 3-1.

Since the 1800s, Blackjack has been played in the United States. Gambling then was legal, specifically between the 1850s and 1910. But the Nevada government declared and made gambling a criminal act. It was in 1931 when gambling was re-legalized in Nevada. Blackjack became one of the favorite gambling games in the country.
At the dawn of 1930, Blackjack became at the top of gambling enthusiasts’ list. It became number one in Las Vegas and in other states as well. Up to now, Blackjack has remained a favorite game among people from the United States.
Today, Blackjack has come into different variations already. More so, technology has made Blackjack a game that can be played via the Internet. One can now enjoy playing Blackjack in front of a laptop or computer while sticking to the chance of winning a pot of money through online casinos.

The history of Blackjack is really worth knowing as it helps a player to appreciate and understand the game even more. The long history of Blackjack—including the changes in how the game is played-will give the players an idea how important it is among the early people who loved playing the game.
