After doing a search via the Internet we found at least eleven different variations of the original game Settlers of Catan. We thought that we would include these as part of general information for those people who love the game.

Settlers of Zarahemla

Settlers of Zarahemla, is a spin off basically of the settlers of Catan. And although it seems to be a lot like the original role-playing game there are notable differences.

Struggle for Rome: This is basically like the expansion of the Settlers Of Catan. However this realm deals with 1 of 4 players playing through barbarian hordes.

Settlers In the Stone Age is game role-playing with different tribes but not at all like the original Catan game.

A kid of Catan although a pretty good game; is geared to be played by children. It follows the same guidelines of the game.

Candamir

A Canadamir the first settler of Catan is also a variation of the classic settlers of Catan. Only with this game it is more for character development instead of role-playing.

Elasund the First city

Elasund the First city goes along the lines of colonist however according to this game overview the city has already been created. And you essentially play for the neighborhoods and competing for the opportunity of having all the important buildings.

Catan Card Game

Catan Card Game is obviously an award winning game played much like the Settlers of Catan but it definitely has its differences. For one this game uses more dice throwing and card playing than anything else. This game does have an expansion game as well.

Catan Dice Game

Catan Dice Game is a very quick and easy to learn version that is based on the role playing game of Catan, however it too does not meet up to the popularity of the original game.

Settlers of Catan the traveling version is resourceful in a game with hexagons being so much more compact, a game that needs something more to intrigue the normal gamer.

Starfarers of Catan while continuing on with the colony and development, it has the space theory going on and you have to do procedures associated with the mother ship. This game is more futuristic than any of the other variations. And yet, it is an interesting variation.

Last but not least, due to the fact that more variations can be found on various web sites is the starship catan. This game shows different cards for prospective colonies, trading ideas, and role playing concepts. However once again it falls just a bit lower than the original.

That’s not to say that any of these games are considered bad, in fact they are often commended as being spin offs of the original variation of the Settlers Of Catan game. In general the game takes precedence over other role playing games simply because of the way it is played and how people look at the game when they are playing.

It might be an imaginary island but as a colonist in the game you have to be better than your opponents as well as in trading. Remember strategy and luck also play key roles for this game.
