The man in black is believed to be Robert who is known for his merciless killings. The man in black goes ahead of the group headed by the prince and catches up with the kidnappers.
When he catches up with the trio, Inigo one of the kidnappers has a score to settle with a man who has six fingers in his right arm for killing his father is left in the hill to fight with the man in black. The two men fight long and hard but Inigo is defeated; he is knocked to the ground unconscious.
Fezzik the wrestler is then left behind to kill the man in black; he is a strong man and is likely to kill the man in black if he gets hold of him. Unfortunately, the man in black chokes the huge man until he passes out. The man in black then goes after Vizzini who is holding the beautiful lady hostage. He proposes a battle of wits where he succeeds in tricking the Vizzini to drink poison.
The black man then introduces himself as Roberts the dreaded pirate who murdered westley. A furious Buttercup pushes him to the gorge and yelled you can die too, the reply she got changed all she felt for that man. Falling in the grove, the man in black replied ‘as you wish’. On realizing that the man in black was westley, the man she loved, she dives into the gorge after him.
They both go through a rough experience with several rodents which he manages to defeat them but eventually captured by the prince’s men. He is taken to the torture chambers, while the lady goes with the prince.
The game is full of intrigues which makes it more interesting. It emerges that the prince had organized for Buttercup’s kidnapping so that he may blame another country and go to war with.

Therefore an eight basically serves as wild card for the game. So if it’s your turn to play and you neither have any of the Diamonds nor card with the rank similar to that of the topmost card on the pile, you can dish out any 8 and make a call for a suit that benefits you.
5) To win, the player needs to finish all the cards on his/her hand. The person with the least score wins the game as the people with cards remaining in the hands will be allotted points accordingly.

The Crazy 8s card game is a fun- filled pastime especially for those who like to indulge in card games along with family or friends. It has many variations, but the basic pattern of the game has about two or more players and can be played by following quick and simple rules.
The main objective of the players is to get rid of all their cards and send it off to a discard pile. The general trend is to use a model pack consisting of 52 cards, but many variations have cards that have personalised pictures and in some other variations joker (the card) is used as wild card. Many games even use more than a pack. Some of the basic rules are as follows:
1) In a game of two players, each player would be handed out seven to eight cards and in case there are more than two players, each one gets about 5 cards. The other cards that are remaining in the deck are put in the middle of a game table and are made to face down, with the topmost card then being turned to face up and is placed next to pick up card pile in order to start a discard pile. This is the card that begins the game.
2) The person sitting left to the one dealing out the cards begins the game by putting one of his cards on the top of discard pile. While doing this he/she must take note of the following two instructions: the first is that the card should match suit or value with the one on the discard pile and the second guideline is that the card that the player plays out should be an eight belonging to any suit.
In case the card turns out to be an eight of any of the suits, the player can alter the game’s suit to the one that he wants. So in case the card on top of the pile is say a five of hearts, the player in turn can either dish out a five of hearts or an eight belonging to any of the suits. In case the person declares the next suit to be a diamond, then the player playing next has to give out either a spade or he can give out another eight, thereby altering the suit once again.
3) In case the player does not possess a card that has the matching suit or value and either doesn’t possess an eight or doesn’t want to play that, he can pick up one card from the pick-up pile and keep on picking till he is able to get a card suitable to play. Since this can include a person picking many cards to find the suitable one, the players can put maximum ceiling on the number that a player can pick in a go before the game starts.
4) The game ends when any one of participants is not left with any cards.
5) To determine the score, a penalty core is given by adding cards left with the remaining player(s). Cards from 2 to 9 are given 5 points, the ones that are ’10,J, Q, K’ are given 10 and the Aces 15. The cards with the number 8 are given 50 points. The play ends when a player gets a score equalling or surpassing a predetermined value (say,1000).

The basic pattern of the Crazy eights card game has been altered to give many variants. It is also known many different names such as Mau-Mau, Crates, Rockaway, Finlander’s Uno, etc.
In some of the variants of the game, a limit is put on the number of cards that a player can pick from the pick-up stock. In such a case, when the player is not able to discard any of the cards with him, he/she is allowed to pick only one card from the lot prior to the chance passing on to the subsequent player. In a similar case there is another variant in the rule which determines whether a person who picks up the card from the lot is permitted to play it at once or not.
There are other adaptations of this card game wherein the card that changes the suit could be a different one (most frequently either Aces or Jacks) and there are varying rules whether this card should be played without consideration of the suit of top card or on a suit matching to that of the top card (for example an eight of clubs should be played on clubs only).
In some of the versions, the players reach to a consensus on the rule of “Dealer’s Goodies”, under which the person dealing out the cards is allowed to lap up the first of the discarded cards in case it’s “special card” and keep on taking cards till one “ordinary card” comes to surface.
Under some variant rules, it is imperative for a player to declare the “last card” when only one of their cards is remaining. In case the person does not make the call and is caught doing that, the player is penalised by having to pick two cards. In another version, in case the last card that the person has is eight of any suit, he has to divulge that to other players of the game.
In other versions, players get the choice of holding onto wild 8’s in case they want to. The other versions allow runs while a player is discarding the cards.
Yet another adaptation of the game permits the removal of the topmost card on discard pile and the shuffling of the remaining cards in the pile. This would yield almost a fresh stock pile when the older one runs out of cards.
Some forms of this card game have a requirement that in order to win, a player must not only finish his cards but also that the last card that finally ends the game should be an “8”. Yet other versions have those players becoming the winners who manage the least points in the game.
One of the common versions of this game includes “Crazy Eights Showdown”. This version is generally played in order to stretch out the game’s length. In this version, when a player is through with all the cards in first hand, they draw out another hand with a card less (than before).
Thus, these are some of the common versions of the game that are able to add a unique style to the basic format of the game.

With massive popularity word wide, the card game 500, still well known and often referred to as Euchre, is becoming more accessible than ever. The internet allows more people to connect from anywhere in the world and play with other individuals or simply play against the computer.
Community Clubs and Organizations that have been sitting out games for a few years are once again becoming interested in this fun and fascinating game. With tournaments popping up all over the internet world, hard core players are playing for keeps!
One of the latest updates on the game comes from a site known as Euchre Club. They indicate that there has been a new rule added which states:
DO NOT ‘GO ALONE’ WITH 9 POINTS!
You are allowed to ‘Go Alone’ on 8 points but you will be disqualified if you go alone with 9! Sometimes it is necessary to go alone on 8 points so that your partner doesn’t trump the first trick (you may need the lead for 2nd trick!), thereby messing up your chance for 2 points and the win.
It is disrespectful to the other team and your partner to go alone with 9 points. IF YOU GO ALONE WITH 9 PTS-If you go alone on 9 points you will be automatically disqualified from the tournament, even if it was a mistake. If a member goes alone on 9 points, the Host must be called to the table so they can witness the end result of the hand.
If a point is made, the partner gets credit for the win and is declared the winner of the game. The partner that went alone will automatically be disqualified and his direct opponent will advance as the 2nd winner of that game.

The Columbus Book of Euchre, Second Edition by Natty Bumpo
The Columbus Book of Euchre, Second Edition by Natty Bumpo had an impressive 4 1/2 out of 5 stars with 26 customer reviews. This book covers the rules, definitions, ploys & axioms for the game. The book was revised in 1982 to add additional terms, new ploys, old rules, and old axioms. It also includes a section with reviews of other books on euchre, a section on computer euchre and an index.
One review of this book stated that “This book does have some great strategies and a wonderful home-spun humorous approach to the game of euchre…Overall, it is a decent book, and I liked it for the most part.”
Another enthusiastic review for Natty Bumpo’s The Columbus Book of Euchre, Second Edition claimed that “If I knew a friend was about to play Lucifer in a game of euchre, I’d recommend the ‘Columbus Book of Euchre’… by Natty Bumpo”.

An ace off color is much more valuable…It fails to evaluate distribution…It gives no value to kings. While a king often has no value in euchre, it has tremendous value in a two-suited hand or if its ace is buried or in partner’s hand.

Tips for Beginners in 500 card Game

The game of 500 is a trick-taking card game where the goal is to be the first to reach the score line of 500 points. This game is a game of concentration, skill and strategy. The first way to improve your game is to practice. When you are playing, it is important to stay focused because being absentminded and not paying attention to what the other players are doing could cost you valuable points and ultimately you could lose the entire game.
It is important to always know how many trump cards are remaining to be played. When the game is dealt, there should be at least 13 trump cards so keep track of when they are played in order to know how many are left in the game.
When you bid, you are bidding to win and when playing with more than just two players, you are working as a team. If you are the first bidder on your team, let your partner know what you have with an “inkle bid”. If the last player on a team to bid wins the bid, they get to change out up to half of their cards with cards that are in the “kitty”.
An “inkle bid” is mostly a strong hint to your partner(s) about what you have in your hand. You can not actually tell them straight out what you have because that is considered “table talk”. Remember that the bid goes up as it goes around the table. You have the option to bid or to pass if you don’t have a strong enough hand to bid higher than the person who bid before you.
If you have a pretty good hand with trump cards, play them as soon as you can, but be careful because if you can’t take at least 3 tricks, your opponent could get 2 points. Leading with trump cards is risky but can also be a huge advantage if done right. If you have a garbage hand with say only one good trump card like an Ace of hearts, play it fast.
By playing your one good card right away, you will force your opponents to relinquish their higher cards in that suit and possibly prevent them from being able to take a trick with some of the lower numbered cards. So whatever you do, don’t pass up an early trumping opportunity. If your partner calls trump, play your bowers right away, unless doing so will cause you to trump your partner!! Remember, oftentimes, you are playing as a team.
There are many variations to 500 and many proven strategies for each.

Rules of 500 Card Game

The card game of 500 is a trick-taking game. There is a variation on the rules of 500. The most common game usually consists of 4 players playing in partnerships of 2, although the game can be played with 2-6 players. A breakdown on how to play the game with 2, 3, 5 and 6 players will be noted later on.
When playing in groups of 4, a deck of 43 cards is used. A joker is included and the 2’s, 3’s, and black 4’s are removed. 10 cards are then dealt to each player and 3 cards are dealt face-down on the playing surface to form the “kitty” (also known as the “widow” and the “blind”). If a deck of 45 cards is used, the 4’s are not removed, each player is still dealt 10 cards and the “kitty” gets 5 cards instead of 3.
In non-trump suits the order of the cards is: A, K, Q, and J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 (and 4 depending on the deck used). In a trump suit, the highest card is the joker which is followed by the jack of trump (right bower) and then the jack of the suit that is the same color as the trump suit (left bower).
The left bower is considered part of the trump suit. With the trump suit, the order of the cards from highest to lowest is: Joker, Right Bower, Left Bower, A, K, Q, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, (and 4 depending on the deck used).
Bidding:
Each set of partners bid on the total number of tricks combined between them they think they may have in their hand, which suit will be the trump or if there will be a trump used. Bidding is done going clockwise around the playing surface. Each player makes a higher-scoring bid or passes.
The Game:
The main focus of the game is on the tricks. Usually, the player to the dealer’s left starts the lead. Players must try to follow suit if they can, including the left bower or any other card that is considered a trump card, if trump cards are led. If a player does not have any of the cards of the suit that is led, he/she can play any card in his/her hand.
After all four players have played their card; the highest trump takes the trick. The winner of the trick leads the next trick. Once all ten tricks are played, the hand is scored. For the next hand, the player on the left of the dealer for the previous hand is the dealer. This continues so that the deal moves in a clockwise direction around the playing surface.
For 2, 3, 5 and 6 players:
The number of players can be anything from 2 against each other, 3 against each other, 2 partnerships of 2 with 1 dealer, 2 against 3 and 2 partnerships of 3. The card decks used will vary depending on the amount of players in a game. 2-3 players use a 33 card deck with cards A-7 in each suit plus the joker.
5 players use the standard 52 pack plus a joker. 6 players use a special 62 card deck which has “spot cards” numbered 11 and 12 in each suit, 13 in each of 2 suits, 13 hearts and 13 diamonds. The joker is optional.
Variations of 500 Card Game

There are many variations to the game known as 500. The rules for each game are mostly similar but there are a few differences. The most popular form of 500 is usually played with 4 people playing in partnerships of 2.
When playing in partnerships of 2 with 4 players a 43 card deck is used. There are variations with additions or deductions to the deck when playing with 3, 5 or 6 handed 500.
A 3 handed game uses no teams, everyone plays solo. 5 handed games can be played where each player takes a turn without a partner or with 2 teams of 2 and a dealer sitting out each hand. 6 handed games can be played with either 3 teams of 2 or 2 teams of 3. When playing with 6 players, a special 63 card deck is required.
When just 2 people are playing 500, a deck of 43 cards is used, just as when 4 people are playing. The difference is, instead of having partners; each player will play both the hand that is dealt to them and the one that is dealt to the table which would have been the partners’ hand.
The hand that is dealt to the table is dealt so that they have 5 cards face down, each covered by a face up card, making a total of 10 cards on the table.
With 3 players, a deck of 33 cards is used. Dealing, scoring and game play are the same as in the standard 4 player game. Another variation of 500 is with 5 players. All of the cards in a deck are used with only 1 joker and each player is dealt 10 cards. This variation of the game differs because of the bidding.
It is the same as the standard 4 player game, except that whoever wins the bidding gets to choose a card (other than the joker). Usually one of the bowers is chosen or another high card.
Whoever has that card announces that they have it and then they become the bidder’s partner for that round. Now that the partnership is formed, the remaining 3 players will play against them. Scoring is the same as the standard 4 player game.
There is also a variation called “Walker Ultimate 500”. In this variation the winning team or player has to win exactly 500 points. The game is played just like the standard 4 player game with the addition of the rule that 1000 points loses the game, i.e. negative 500 points.
In this variation “Peggings” or “Scab Points” must be played. There is also a French Canadian variation that plays to a total of 1000 points. If a team fails to reach its “contract” for points, the points are given to the other team’s total. In this variation points are never subtracted.

History of Ticket to Ride

Ticket to Ride was originally a board game designed by Alan R. Moon and was published in 2004 by Days of Wonder. Moon had an early introduction to the classic American board games and traditional card games from his youth.
His professional career has been full of many accomplishments ranging from an Assistant Editor for Avalon hill’s magazine called The General, a developer at Parker Brothers and he also founded his own game company called White Wind.
He was the Director of Games at FX Schmid USA and the Vice President at Ravensburger. Alan Moon has designed and co-designed many games including Elfenland, Union Pacific and San Marco.
The game is a railway themed German style game that is also known as Zug um Zug (German), Les Aventuriers du Rail (French), Aventuros al Tren (Spanish) and Menolippu (Finnish).
The game won the 2004 Spiel des Jahres, the Origins Award for Best Board Game of 2004, the 2005 Diana Jones Award and also came in 2nd in the Schweizer Spielepreis for Family Games. The European version of Ticket to Ride won the 2005 International Gamers Award.
By august 2008, over 750.000 copies of the game had been sold according to its publisher. Ticket to Ride is a game that is centered on the idea of building railroads and connecting cities with the players’ routes.
There are two variations to the game Ticket to Ride. When it was originally published, it was a board game that was made up of an oversized board map of North America, 225 custom-molded train cars, 144 illustrated cards and wooden scoring markers.
In this version the game players collect cards of various types of train cars which they use to claim railway routes across North America. The longer the routes, the more points they can earn.
Players can earn additional points when they fulfill Destination Tickets, which are goal cards that connect distant cities, and they can also earn additional points by building the longest continuous route.
In Ticket to Ride, the card game, the play differs somewhat. There are no plastic train models or giant game boards. There are only cards which contain lots of color and detail.
There 3 different type of cards: train cards that come in all colors, route cards which contain point and color values and bonus cards that give you bonus points if you have the most of a certain city at the end of the game.
The games are different and are not really meant to be compared to one another. While the idea remains the same, at the end of the game you want to be the player with the most routes complete, and also strive to have the longest completed routes as well.

The main object of this game is to score the most number of points by the collection of names in three rounds. The game is played in a very simple way just by choosing a set of name cards at random. This game will consist of teams and the team that is guessing will have to guess the name of the person, song or thing that is specified on the card.

There are three rounds and in round one the clue givers can say anything. In round two you are allowed only to say a word and in round three the clue givers can’t say anything at all. The guessers should give the full name. There is no passing in this game and the clue giver cannot pass and move on to a new name unless and until the person guessing gives the correct name.
If the clue giver gives a clue which might be on the basis of cheating, his turn will end and the card is returned to the deck. In round 2 not more than one word can be said. The clue giver will not use more than one word per card so as to describe a name.
The clue giver may pass this round and put the cards face down on the board and then pick up a new card and continue with a new name. Each team will only have 1 guess per card. Round three is the most difficult, where the clue giver can’t say anything but only make sounds and pantomime.

Spades is one of the most flexible card games around, and there are a number of variations that can be implemented in every stage of the game to suit your playing group’s liking and interests.
Number of players: In the traditional format, the game was meant to be played by four players, forming two partnerships of two players each. The other variations are:
• Solo Spades: This variation of the game is also known as ‘Cut Throat Spades’.
• Two players: Played between two players, this variation does not involve any dealing of cards. Cards are drawn by the players from a face-down deck.
• Three players: In this arrangement of an odd number of players, there is no opportunity for a partnership. Players play individually and each one gets 17 cards, after the 2s of Clubs have been removed.
• Five players: There are again no partnerships here, and each player plays with 10 cards, after 2s of reds have been removed.
• Six players: With these many players, the game can be either played solo or in partnerships (two or three). It entails that an extra pack of 52 cards is put into the game. More than six players can also play, making groups accordingly.
Variations in Dealing:
• Face-up Deal: This variation of Spades entails that the dealer lays out the cards for each with their faces up, and this goes on up to four cards. This brings about a ‘power check’ competition to the game.
• Kitty: If in a game, the number of players is such that the playing cards cannot be evenly distributed, a ‘kitty’ is used in place of the usual widow, and it is composed of all the cards that are leftover or are played as tricks.
• Deuce starts: Irrespective of who deals the cards in this variation of the game, it is always the player who holds the 2 of Club who begins the game by leading the same.
Variations in Bidding:
Board: In the ‘Going Board’ variation of Spades, the minimum bid required to be made by each team is four tricks. Sometimes, this format can be altered to settle on a minimum bid that is agreed upon by the players.
Auction Spades: In this variation, the game play of Spades is combined with the unique auction-based style of bidding seen in Contract bridge. Thus, when a team has made its minimum bid, the subsequent bidders raise must raise it or else, pass their turn. The winning team makes its contract, while the opponents can either ‘set’ them or even force them to bid overtricks.
Suicide: Such bidding is done only when there are four players (two partnerships), wherein partners must make opposite bids (a player can bid either a minimum of four tricks, or else, Nil).
Whiz: this format requires that the player must either make a bid of the all the spades in his hand, or he must go nil. Mirrors is a similar version of this format.

Spades is a plain-trick card game that has been highly popular for its uncomplicated nature and its simple pleasures. Here’s what the game is really all about.
Unlike other card games, Spades has a distinct characteristic of declaring the suit of spades as the trump by default, without having to declare trump based on the decision of the highest bidder. This very characteristic is what has given the card game its name.
Spades is usually played in a partnership setting (when it is referred to as ‘Partnership Spades’) in which four players make two teams of two each. Partners sit across each other, and the play is conducted in a clockwise fashion. A standard deck of 52 cards is used, and in case the number of players playing the game goes up to six and beyond, another 52 card-pack will need to be put in.
Principle of the game: The basic principle of the game is that every team (partnership) or player must necessarily make a speculative bid on the number of card tricks to be made in the course of the game at a minimum count, and this must be done even before the game has begun.
Object of Spades: The simple object of the game is that each player, or team, must score their points by winning a number of tricks that comes closest to the bid that is made prior to the game.
The deal: The deal is performed in a clockwise fashion, wherein a player who draws the highest card is chosen to be the first dealer, and at the end of each hand, the deal is passed on to the first dealer’s left. After the player on the right side of the dealer makes the cut, the deck is dealt to all the players, one card, faced down, at a time.
Bidding: In this game, all the players make a bid on the minimum number of game tricks to be performed, and if there is a partnership, the bids of each player is added which becomes the total that must be achieved so as to earn positive points.
Every player must necessarily make a bid, but it need not always be higher than the previous one, as is the case in other card games. There can be a Nil bid, and also sometimes a Blind bid, for those players who want to make a bid before looking at their sets.
Passing: Passing of cards is a rare case in Spades, and is usually done within a partnership when a player makes a nil bid.
How the game is played: The player to the left of the dealer starts the hand, and is followed in a clockwise fashion. The basic rule is that no player can lead Spades unless someone has played a trump Spade.
The winning score is predetermined and players earn their points on the basis of playing the highest card (Ace being the highest) or the highest trump. Trick count and scoring is done alongside the game. Reneging is done when any member in a partnership violates the rules.
